Ashmita Tamang
Ashmita lives in Kopugaon Village, an area where child marriage is still quite common. She faces the real prospect of being forced to marry at an early age because it is considered less expensive than supporting her education.
Her parents earn some income by doing daily labor jobs in the village and Ashmita helps her parents by doing some household chores.
As a Rukmini Scholar, she can focus more on continuing with her education and doing well in school. Like most of her friends, she would like to become a teacher one day.
